What to eat for healthy hair?
It is not a secret anymore that hair is made up of protein. This protein cannot be provided to our hair by simply shampooing and rinsing our hair. You also need to intake some protein physically. Hair grows from one fourth to half an inch monthly.

Like our body needs a balanced diet, hair also needs the same. Beauty supplements that are present in the market are not enough for the growth of your hair. You need to take a proper diet to keep your hair growing.
Some foods that are ideal for the growth of hair include:

Protein products:
Most women don’t get the recommended 37 to 50 grams of protein per day, which could result in weak and thinning hair. Try to increase the consumption of soy, dried nuts, dairy products with low fats, legumes, seafood, eggs and meat in your diet. You can also take walnuts, salmon and seeds that contain higher amount of omega-3 fatty acids. These amino acids play an active role in maintaining the health of hair.

Antioxidants:
Antioxidants keep your hair strong and strapping. These phytochemicals are mostly found in rainbow fruits and vegetables. Like in red color, they are found in cherries, red apples, strawberries, pomegranate, tomatoes and watermelon.

Orange foods include apricots, oranges, pumpkins, mangoes, peaches, butternut squash, yellow and orange peppers, and carrots.

The green food section consists of dark green vegetables such as spinach, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, grapes and kiwi. The purple category includes plums, prunes, raisins blackberries, blueberries and grapes.

Be sure to take care with heat and chemicals, especially if you have dry hair.

Although electric hair straighteners (flat irons) are popular, they do cause serious damage to hair. When used on high heat, hair dryers can damage hair, too. Decreasing your use of these hot devices (or at least using a less hot setting) will help to keep your hair healthier.

If you’re not sure whether an appliance will damage your hair, think about your hair the way you think about your skin. Would you blast your face with 1875 watts of hot air every morning? Probably not!

Harsh chemicals in hair color, permanents, and relaxers can strip the hair of vital oils. Some hair dyes contain fewer harsh chemicals than others. Bleaches and peroxides are ingredients to watch out for. They can make your hair brittle and cause split ends.

Finally, be extra careful in the summer sun. Sunshine and chlorine can both cause dry hair. The easiest solution is to wear a hat or simply avoid getting too much sun (your skin will thank you, too).

You can also protect your hair by wearing a swim cap when you go into the pool. Another option is to saturate your hair with conditioner before heading to the beach or pool. If you swim in a chlorinated pool, wash your hair in fresh water after swimming. If you swim frequently, consider using a shampoo designed to remove chlorine from hair.
